Abstract
We designed and developed a new limb-structured anthracene derivative, 2,3-bis(9,9-diethyl-9H-fluoren-2-yl)-9,10-diphenylanthracene (EFPA), comprising an anthracene core with phenyl units at its the 9 and 10-positions and fluorene units at its 2 and 3-positions.This blue-emitting material was synthesized via the Suzuki cross-coupling reaction and its structure was confirmed by using FT-IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and mass spectroscopy. The optical, electrochemical and thermal properties of the material were investigated, and its the molecular structure–property relationships were evaluated. The non-doped devices using EFPA displayed a maximum external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 2.55% with CIE color coordinates (0.166, 0.197). Doped device using 5% EFPA as the dopant showed a maximum external quantum efficiency of 2.90% and CIE coordinates of (0.142, 0.107).
