Abstract
New fossiliferous localities in the Maya Mountains have produced evidence supporting the thesis that Dixon's Maya and Macal are both part of a sedimentary cycle extending from Lower Pennsylvanian to Middle Permian without any significant regional breaks. This has led to the revision of the stratigraphic table so that Dixon's Maya and Macal Series are combined to form the Santa Rosa Group, which is regarded as the equivalent of the sedimentary sequence of the same name in adjacent territories. Preliminary radiometric age determinations on several granites are in general in accord with the main intrusive phase at 206 m.y., postdating the main sedimentation. Ages from the Mountain Pine Granite are not so consistent and suggest a somewhat earlier and possible multiple intrusi n. The status of the Bladen Porphyry of Dixon has been revised radically as a result of recent field work. It is now considered to be contemporaneous with part of the Santa Rosa Group and to represent a period of local extrusive volcanism.
