Abstract

The term pseudoporphyria describes a cutaneous condition that mimics porphyria cutanea tarda (PCT) in adults and erythropoietic protoporphyria in children. Pseudoporphyria is frequently linked to the ingestion of drugs, primarily nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). The course is prolonged in some patients, but most reports describe symptoms that disappear several weeks to several months after the offending agent is withdrawn.
