Abstract
The first multi-watt quantum dot (QD) vertical external-cavity surface-emitting laser (VECSEL) operating at long wavelength and high power has been demonstrated by collaborative researchers from the Center for High Technology Materials at the University of New Mexico and the University of Arizona. This represents a significant step towards high power laser applications in display technology, telecommunications and circuits.
