Abstract

Mode crossing experiments yield high resolution in Zeeman spectroscopy of higher excited states. The g J-values of the neon levels 2p 4 and 2s 2 have been measured by mode crossing on 0.633 microm, 1.152 microm and 1.523 microm HeNe-laser tuning the axial magnetic field up to 0.17 T. A slight pressure induced g J-shift of the 2p 4 level is observed.
