Abstract

New flavor symmetry of heavy quarks is studied in {ital D} meson and {ital B} meson decays. Form factors of the {ital {bar B}}{r arrow}{ital K},{ital K}{sup *} transition are obtained from observed form factors in semileptonic decays of the {ital D} meson owing to flavor symmetry. Branching ratios of nonleptonic decays {ital {bar B}}{r arrow}{ital K}{psi} and {ital K}{sup *}{psi} are predicted, using the 1/{ital N}{sub {ital c}} expansion of the weak hadronic matrix element. Our results agree nicely with experimental branching ratios.
