Abstract

Measurements of sound-pressure gradient near a subsonic jet have shown that coherent sound is emanated from the flow in the form of narrow beams. This conclusion is drawn from a large data base using correlation techniques, and it is further confirmed by additional experiments. Subject Classification: 28.65; 50.55.
