Abstract

Pear trees (cvs. 'Doyenne du Comice, 'B.C. Williams', 'General Leclerc') were sprayed during 1998 with Vektafid 5% (light summer oil, green product for use on pomefruits according to the principles and guidelines of Integrated agricultural production approved by the joint committee of IOBC/WPRS and ISHS), and Insegar 25 WP 1% (fenoxycarb) and during 1999 with Vektafid, Vivere 0,2% (organic fertilizer with minerals, proteins, extract from Sassafras albidum) and Insegar. The quantity of Psylla pyricola eggs and honeydew was recorded on a scale of 1 to 5 (1 = few eggs or honeydew, 5 = many eggs or honeydew). In addition the number of nymphs on the first full expanded leaf from 10 shoots of each tree was recorded. During 1998 Vektafid gave significantly better results than Insegar and the control. Also during 1999 Vektafid and Vivere gave significantly better results than Insegar and control. A second measurement one-month later showed that Vektafid treatments had a lower population of P. pyricola than the other treatments.
