Abstract

The emission spectrum observed in the region 4183 – 3645 Å from a high frequency electrodeless discharge of flowing SiF 4 vapor is analyzed as due to a second system of SiF 2. The analysis shows that the transition involves the ground state of the molecule. The nature of the excited state and the type of the transition involved are discussed.
