Abstract

Electrochemical reduction of alicyclic vinyl triflates ( 1a-1e) in a DMF solution containing 0.1 M Bu 4NBF 4 under an atmospheric pressure of carbon dioxide with a platinum cathode and a magnesium anode resulted in the cleavage of an oxygen-sulfur bond of 1 to give the corresponding β-keto carboxylic acids ( 2a-2e) in yields of 28–77%.
