Abstract

Beginning with this issue, the Journal's editor becomes editor-in-chief and its senior deputy editor, Dr. Marcia Angell, becomes executive editor. These new positions and the rearrangement of responsibilities they denote are a response to the growing scope and complexity of our editorial task. As editor, I have for many years been directly responsible not only for establishing editorial policies and practices, but for managing the editorial office and overseeing the reviewing and editing of manuscripts.
