Halanych. Dr. Halanych has had a long association with the Bulletin, having served on the Editorial Board from 2002–2005 and then as an Associate Editor from 2005 to present. He has served as interim Editor-in-Chief for the Bulletin since July 2016. He also has editorial service with a number of other journals. Dr. Halanych holds the Stewart W. Schneller Endowed Chair in the College of Science and Mathematics at Auburn University, where he is a professor of Biological Sciences.Ken’s research interests in marine invertebrate evolution, genomics, molecular systematics, and phylogenetic theory are a good match for the breadth of disciplines covered in The Biological Bulletin. He has had extensive experiences on inshore and oceanographic cruises in many of the oceans of the world and has served as Chief Scientist on seven cruises. His educational background and international experience will serve the Journal well. Ken received a B.S. degree in biology from Wake Forest University in 1988 and a Ph.D. in zoology at the University of Texas at Austin in 1994. His postdoctoral research experience in molecular evolution and phylogenetics included the University of Pretoria in South Africa and Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He was appointed as an Assistant and then Associate Scientist in the Department of Biology at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution before moving to his current academic home at Auburn University in the Department of Biological Sciences.Dr. Halanych wishes to continue the long-standing traditions of The Biological Bulletin in publishing articles that are accessible to a wide readership. He maintains that “broad and integrated coverage across disciplines, combined with high-quality editorial oversight, makes The Biological Bulletin unique in an age of journal specialization.”The Bulletin’s Editorial Board warmly welcomes Ken to his new position.
