Abstract

Kerr microscopy was used to observe the domain structure of Permalloy films that have the same shape as the pole pieces commonly employed in thin-film recording heads. These pole pieces were deposited on thin glass slides, making it possible to observe the domains from both the top and the bottom of the film.
