Abstract
During the botanical fieldwork conducted in Central Mindanao University (CMU) view deck in Bukidnon, the Philippines, Wurfbainia elegans (Ridl.) Škorničk. & A.D.Poulsen was collected and currently holds a new distribution record in the said province. It is a Philippine endemic ginger species and is recorded only in Bataan, Ilocos Norte, and Quezon in Luzon and Lanao del Sur in Mindanao. After the thorough review of relevant literature, the description of this species needs to be amended as some characters should be included to properly identify this specific taxon. A full morphological description, phenology, updated distribution, habitat and ecology, and color photographs are given.
