Abstract

Abstract A significant shift in the economic understanding of the factors at play in the generation of technological knowledge has taken place over the last twenty years. For a long time, the corporation has been considered the main locus for the accumulation of technological knowledge and the object of relevant internal economies of scale and scope. A new approach to understanding and modelling the organization of the generation of technological knowledge is taking place: one where different forms of knowledge are identified and their interaction is appreciated.
