Abstract

In this work, a new digital signaturebased on elliptic curvesis presented. We established its efficiency and security. The method, derived from a variant of ElGamal signature scheme, can be seen as a secure alternative protocol if known systemsare completely broken.

INTRODUCTION

A lot of practical algorithms for digital signature have been developed since the invention of the public key cryptography in the late 1970’s [1,12,11]. In 1985, Koblitz [8] and Miller [10] proposed independently the use of elliptic curves in cryptography They showed that there exist groups more complex than the traditional multiplicative group (( / )∗ ,.) where is the set of all integers and is a prime number. These structures are useful and practical in public key cryptography. We apply a variant of ElGamal scheme to build a new digital signature based on the elliptic curves.
