Abstract

Society can draw on primary metal resources as well as from metal discarded after use. Inefficient recovery of metals increases the dispersion of metals in ecosystems and the use of primary raw materials. This contribution highlights new methods for recovering of scrap metals using sensors. Recent examples developed at Delft University of Technology of automated sorting prototypes for metal scrap identification are discussed.
