Abstract
Two new high-intensity light sources are described, both of the high-pressure vapour discharge type and suitable for general lighting service. The new lamps are similar in their geometrical and electrical characteristics to the well known high-pressure mercury-vapour lamps used for street and area lighting, but they are capable of giving 50–100% more light, with much better colour. The introduction of these new lamp types is likely to have farreaching effects on external lighting and industrial lighting generally.
