Abstract

This Special issue (SI) of Applied Thermal Engineering introduces 17 selected contributions from the 15th Conference Process Integration, Modelling and Optimisation for Energy Saving and Pollution Reduction – PRES 2012. This SI builds upon the long-term cooperation between the PRES conferences and the Applied Thermal Engineering. In this introduction, the editors are highlighting the individual articles. The main areas of this issue can be summarised as follows: improving heat transfer and heat exchanger design, waste and fuel processing for better energy supply, total site developments, intensification and energy efficiency improvement of processes.
