Abstract

Recent developments in the use of Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) for the qualitative and quantitative analysis of minor and trace elements in materials for comparison and/or sourcing is presented. The method development for the use of LIBS in the analysis of glass, paint, plant matter, paper and ink will be described along with the observed figures of merit and compared to the more mature Laser Ablation Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS).
