Abstract
Under the Roosevelt and Truman administration many progressive social policies were adopted. However, Black Americans were largely excluded as beneficiaries of these programs. “Affirmative action for whites” widened an already immense gap between white and Black Americans during the post-World War II era. 1Originally published in the Washington Post, September 27, 2005
