Abstract

New data on the biology and ecology of a rare species, bearded eelpout Hadropogonichthys lindbergi (Zoarcidae), in the Pacific waters of the middle Kuril Islands are presented. The list of species of the community, which includes the eelpout, is given. Captures of H. lindbergi were recorded in the depth range of 290–440 m at a temperature of 2.2–3.0°C. The maximum length and weight have been specified: 43 cm and 180 g. Individual fertility is 96−117 eggs. A description of the stages of maturity of the sex glands of males and females is given. Sexual maturity occurs at a body length of 37–38 cm. It is assumed that the reproduction of the eelpout takes place in the fall.
