Abstract

Frank–Kasper polyhedrons suitable for the description of the structures of intermetallic phases can also be used to describe the structures of the Cu-rich clusters, which are among the compounds formed by the reactions of CuCl with phosphanes and Te(SiMe3)2. The Cu-poor compound 1 in contrast contains a Cu4 butterfly cluster with two μ4-Te ligands (structure shown right).
