Abstract

We have replaced the control system of Nos. 3 and 4 sinter plants at Chiba works by the hierarchical system that has three layers; digital control system (DCS), integrate process computer (P/C), and central computer at Chiba works (C/C). DCSs for Nos. 3 and 4 sinter plants are independent systems and are composed mainly of 32-loop dual controllers and CRT controller. Plant data of both DCS's are inputted to one system, and processed by integrated software package for process control. As plant data of ironmaking plants are centralized as a whole to the we call it the ironmaking integrate P/C. This P/C functions are the gathering and calculating of plant data, building process data base, set point control for optimum plant operation, and information services for plant operators. P/C transmits process data to C/C. C/C builds up general-use data base using data from P/C, and offers various kinds of services on management, planning and data analysis jobs of affairs of plant production and operation. This 3-layer hierarchical system was completed in July 1985, and has brought about saving of operational cost and elevation of operational management level.
