Abstract

From the leaves of Pycacantha coccinea (Rosaceae), we have isolated and identified four new compounds, 2'(3-methylbut-2-enyloxy)-6-methoxyangelicin (pyracanthin A) [1], 2'(3-methylbut-2-enyloxy)-6-hydroxyangeticin (pyracanthin B) [2], 5,7,3',4'-tetrahydroxy-7-0-[6''-0-(acetyl)-β-D-glucopyranosyloxy]-flavanone (coccinoside A) [4], and 5,7,2',5'-tertahydroxy-7-0-β-D-glucopyranosyloxyflavanone (coccinoside B) [5], besides scopoletin, 5,7,2',5'-tetrahydroxyflavanone, borneolapiosylglucopyranoside, and β-ionol glucopyranoside, never previously isolated from this genus
