Abstract

Recent large registry studies of patients with AF have found an increased use of oral anticoagulation for prevention of thromboembolic events, consistent with the most recent Professional Guidelines. Although AF management has improved in clinical practice, anticoagulation use is often inappropriate and mortality rates remain high.
