Abstract

Drawing on recent ethnographic studies of nonheterosexual youth, nonheterosexual identity development, and online collegiate identity management, this article outlines an extension of prior typological work concerning nonheterosexual male college students proposed by the author. Two new types (“Twitter Twinks” and “Lads Without Labels)” are proffered and explained, along with a social contextualization of how these two concepts have recently developed. The article concludes with a call for new ways to conceptualize, study, understand, and support nonheterosexual identities in collegiate environments.
