Abstract

This paper presents a new calibration block wich permits us to measure the relative sensitivities of longitudinal and shear wave transducers. To do so, a broadband longitudinal emitter radiates a wave through the block and, after reflection and mode transformation on a plane surface, this latter gives a longitudinal wave and a shear wave with a known ratio of amplitudes. This ratio is computed by using the plane wave model and by applying an experimental correction in order to take account the diffraction and attenuation phenomena. This block is inserted in a computer controlled system of measurement and is used to obtain the relative sensitivities of different receiving probes.
