Abstract

AbstractThe new Bereavement Care Service Standards set out what needs to be addressed in order for services to be both safe and effective in meeting the needs of bereaved people. Launched in January 2014, they have been developed to apply to all services providing bereavement support in any sector, and to provide a useful benchmarking tool. The Standards have been developed as part of the Gold Standard Bereavement Care Project, and this article outlines the development process, and shows how the Standards can apply to the voluntary sector, NHS service providers, and to individual practitioners.
