Abstract

With modern techniques and advances in materials and instruments, the outcome of glaucoma surgery has been improved. Early filtering surgery has become a definite option in open angle glaucoma, particularly as the complications of such surgery are minimal. Refractory cases of glaucoma are always problematic, but modifications to the routine surgical options such as silicone-tube implants, partial-thickness procedures, 5-fluorouracil, and cyclocryotherapy, have improved the outcome. This article reviews some of the current trends in glaucoma surgery.
