Abstract

Photo protective capabilities of more than 30 chemicals, many of which arenot used as UVL protective agents, were tested against UVL (290–370nm and 320–450 nm) by two in vitro systems: photohemolysis and candida albicans growth inhibition. Results of the two test systems revealed that: 1. agents may protect against UVL damage without absorbing light and 2. an agent which protects in one system may not protect in the other.
