Abstract

Over the last few years, the telecommunications industry has faced significant changes fueled by the mass market adoption of smartphones. Smartphones have created the need for more data-centric network services by accelerating the introduction of new applications and services. This evolution has helped wireless broadband service mature as a next wave of communication. In particular, due to the migration of Internet use on fixed network to mobile network, the mobile data traffic growth rate has grown beyond network capacity. Overall mobile data traffic in Korea is expected to grow to 152 petabytes (10 15 bytes) per month by 20 15 , a 35-fold increase over 2010 according to KCC(Korea Communications Commission).
