Abstract
A novel approach to measuring the activation energy of thermal explosion (SHS) in an original Reactive Forging set up has been developed. Applied to a 2Mg–Si powder blend, the method yielded activation energies comparable to the literature data for 2Mg + Si → Mg 2Si reaction determined by the Kissinger approach.
