Abstract

The University of Toronto has appointed Prof. Kue Young to the TransCanada Pipelines Chair in Aboriginal Health and Wellbeing. Prof. Young is currently Professor of Public Health Sciences in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto. The endowed chair was created through a major donation from the TransCanada Pipelines Ltd and matching funds from the University to promote education and research in the health of the Aboriginal population. Prof. Young is well known to the circumpolar health community, having served as Secretary- General (1990–93) and President (1993–96) of the International Union for Circumpolar Health and a recipient of the J.A.Hildes Medal in 2000.
