Abstract
Pair creation by high energy photons is discussed as the inverse process of bremsstrahlung by electrons. The characteristics of channeling pair production are analysed and compared with those of the coherent analogue. Newly reported experimental findings are examined. Separation of the two pair production mechanisms by energy and temperature variations is discussed.
