Abstract

A regression analysis of data on the differential capacitance of a mercury electrode in aqueous solutions of tert-butanol, which were published previously, is performed. It is shown that, in contradistinction to an analogous analysis of electrocapillary curves (ECC), in order to describe the adsorption of this compound in the framework of a model of two parallel capacitors, it is necessary to take into account the linear dependence of the parameter of an intermolecular interaction on the electrode potential. It is established on the basis of modeling calculations that, in order to obtain the same result in the case of a regression analysis of ECC, the relative accuracy of measurements of the interfacial tension must be two orders of magnitude the relative accuracy of measurements of the differential capacitance.
