Abstract

We present an analysis of hydrogen Balmer line shapes observed in a white dwarf spectrum taken from the SDSS database. The spectrum presents lines with a triplet structure, featuring the presence of a strong magnetic field. Using a spectrum fitting model, we estimate the effective temperature of the star and we estimate the magnetic field present in the atmosphere. We also estimate the electron density from Stark broadening calculations.
