Abstract

Two new alkaloids, 8-hydroxyergine and 8-hydroxyerginine, are produced during the post-production phase of submerged cultivation of the strain Claviceps paspali. Their structures were determined on the basis of UV, ms, and 2D-nmr data. A mechanism of formation of these compounds is proposed. The C-8 configuration of 8-hydroxy-ergotamine was solved by comparison with nmr spectra
