The neutrophil's journey through the vascular wall constitutes a critical step during inflammation. In this issue of Immunity, Girbl etal. (2018) demonstrate that neutrophil extravasation is mediated by sequential and compartmentalized chemokine action, endowing unexpected specificity to promiscuous chemokine receptors.
