Abstract

A new procedure for calculating the flux shape due to a local perturbation is presented. The alternative pseudo-harmonics perturbation method was used to obtain the neutron flux in the perturbed region. This formulation is based on the definition of a region of interest in which the changes in flux shapes due to perturbations are considerably large, when compared to the rest of the system domain. The basis vectors and the perturbed flux shape are obtained for that specific region taking into account only the local physical properties and the values of the unperturbed flux on the edges, which are taken as boundary conditions. It is shown that this procedure can reduce the computational effort involved in solving the perturbative problem.
