Abstract

Magnetic ordering of CuFe 0.95 Al 0.05 O 2 was studied by neutron scattering. CuFe 0.95 Al 0.05 O 2 exhibits a quasi-long-range order below a pseudo-Neel temperature, T N =13.5 K. The magnetic structure is a helical structure with the propagation vector (0.196 0.196 \(\frac{3}{2}\)). However, a true long-range order is not established even at 1.7 K. Neutron spin-echo measurements revealed that the ordered magnetic moment becomes static below T N . The existence of the helical structure suggests that an Ising anisotropy of CuFeO 2 is weak.
