Abstract

Crystal structures of intermediate phases just above the Curie temperature of some ferroelectrics have been found to be modulated. Neutron scattering technique has been applied to those crystals in order to study incommensurate lattice instabilities, temperature change of satellite scattering and incommensurate to commensurate phase transitions. Some typical features of the results are reviewed. Examples summarized in the present paper includes K2SeO4, (ND4)2BeF4, SC(ND2)2, Rb2ZnBr4, Rb2ZnCl4, K2ZnCl4 and ammonium Rochelle Salt.
