Abstract

We describe refraction of neutrons through a magnetic prism which is exposed to an oscillating magnetic field. We show that an incident unpolarized neutron beam can be split in eight emerging beams which are spatially separated. Their intensity, wave vector values, and kinetic energy are treated analytically and numerically. We also show that the wavelength of neutron beams can be varied continuously by means of oscillating magnetic fields, which can also be considered as an inelastic interaction process.
