Abstract

The role of neutron-proton pairing correlations in the description of collective quadrupole states of even spherical nuclei with 40< A<70 is studied. It is concluded that neutron-proton pairing correlations are significant in this region and with their inclusion one may be able to extend the region of applicability of the simple pairing plus quadrupole force model to all even spherical nuclei with A>40.
