Abstract

A kinematically complete experiment on the neutron-proton bremsstrahlung at a neutron energy of 14.4 MeV was performed. Protons and neutrons were detected on opposite sides of the neutron beam. Protons were identified and their energy measured. The associated particle method and the neutron-proton time-of-flight difference were used to reduce the background. An upper limit of 400 μb · sr −2 was found for the neutron-proton bremsstrahlung differential cross section at the detector setting θp = θn = 30°.
