Abstract

We report the measurement of the polarization in the reaction ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}+p\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}+n$ at an incident-pion kinetic energy (lab) of 310 MeV and at an angle of 30\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{} in the c.m. system. The polarization was obtained from measurements of the left-right asymmetry in the scattering of the neutrons from liquid helium at lab-scattering angles of 75\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{} and 125\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}. The measured polarization is 0.24\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.07.
