Abstract
Pure and deuteride alloys of ErFe8.5Co2Mo1.5 have been synthesized and studied with neutron and X-ray powder diffraction from 10 to 300 K. The Rietveld analysis method has been used for the structural and magnetic determinations. Both compounds present the tetragonal ThMn12 structure, space group 14/mmm. Deuterium resides on the 2b site, Mo shows a strong preference for the 8i site and Co for the 8j and 8f sites. The low-temperature planar anisotropy of the pure alloy is destroyed by deuteration.
