Abstract

Ternary RTIn compounds (R=Ce–Nd, Tb–Er; T=Au or Ni) with geometrically frustration of rare earth's magnetic moments in case of antiferromagnetic ordering were investigated by neutron powder diffraction as well as magnetic susceptibility and XPS measurement. Due to frustration and crystal field influence studied compounds exhibit a wide range of magnetic structures including: ferromagnetism, noncollinear antiferromagnetism or even spin-glass-like state. In some cases there are additional changes in magnetic structure below ordering temperature.
