Abstract
The presence of temperature dependent superstructure lines in the neutron diffraction pattern of LaD 3 suggests the occurence of a low temperature phase transformation. It is of second order and probably due to an ordering of the D atoms on off-centre positions in the octahedral interstices of the metal atom network. The structural analogy with fluorite type superionic conductors is emphasized.
