Abstract

In recent t imes several authors have t r ied to revive the neutrino theory of photons, first proposed by D~ BgOG~IE (~). I t seems tha t the recent discovery of the second kind of neutrino (va) has offered a new oppor tuni ty to consider the mat ter . Though we have not ye t got any perfect theory to this end (~), ye t the possibil i ty of such a theory of photons has created a good deal of interest among the physicists. The mum at t ract ive ~eature o~ this is t ha t i t c~u lead us to a unified picture of electromagnetic and weak interactions. Indeed, th~s possibil i ty arises due to the ~act tha t neutrinos are supposed to be unable to take par t in any interact ion other than a weak one, whereas electromagnetic interactions are known to be generated by photons only. In ~his note we wish to point out tha~ interest ing l imitat ions may arise ~or such photons to be taken as (( pure ~) electromagnetic quanta since, apar t from electromagnetic interactions, these may be emit ted or absorbed by an electron through weak interactions also. However, in nonlocal field-theoretic ~ormalism, we can get in a certain limit, an (~ electromagn~tm effect )) out of such weakly interacting photons if we consider ~t-photou interactions at different space-time points in the external space. According to the neutrino theory of photons, the emissmn or absorpt ion of a photon can be depmted by a Lagrangian (3)
